A ground breaking platform in South Africa was created by Future Ed in 2011 when educational experts, educators, curriculum advisors and developers, governing bodies, parents, special needs educators, corporates, and business stakeholders came together under one roof to develop, innovate and provide solutions to benefit learners. On Wednesday 6th October 2010 leading exhibition company, Exposure Marketing launched, Future Ed™, The Education Show, which was held at the Coca-Cola Dome from 27-29 May 2011.

It goes without saying that listening is a fundamental part of language teaching, a modality that is most frequently used in the social aspect. It has been estimated that adults spend almost half their communication time listening and students may receive as much as 90 percent of their-in-school information through listening to teachers and to peers.
Listening has many different levels and not all listening can be viewed the same; casual greetings, for example, require a different sort of listening capability than do academic lectures. Language learning is different in that it is important for listening to be intentional, employing strategies for recognising sounds and then making meaning from them.

Planning for Future Ed 2012’s interactive seminar and workshop series is now underway. We’re looking for dynamic, credible, impactful and passionate educators to lead discussions on pertinent themes around teaching, learning and parenting in South Africa. The seminar series in 2011 proved extremely popular and was a significant attraction to the show. Over 40% of people visiting Future Ed 2011 came with the specific intention to attend one of the informative sessions.
Future Ed’s seminar and workshop programme provides educators with a broad selection of insightful and enjoyable learning opportunities and we invite you to contribute.
